FX Loop

AN: Turn the volume up to hear it (it saved very quietly)...and sorry for the "popping" noise at the beginning, I'm not sure how it got there. Tell me if I need to repost it because of volume issues.

This project was the hardest so far to do for me because I couldn't get any ideas of my own. I borrowed two lines from Footloose (the bass and guitar) and it helped a lot. (Warning: If you are going to borrow a line, be prepared to listen to it over and over and over again. I am now sick of the song.) On the drums I have reverb, which fit very well, as did the chorus on the bass. The delay (which is on 'mono echoes', by the way) seemed to go best on the tambourine because if it was on anything else, it took over. The last effect I have is flanger on all of the guitar parts. It took me two classes to find an ending and in my opinion, the one I have now is slightly cheesy, if you will. Overall, I am not 100% happy with it, but I am satisfied.

Chopping Loop

In the beginning, I didn't have the cymbal clap, but I grew to like it. I wanted this piece to have a mysterious feel to it and think I accomplished that with noise that moves "in and out" for lack of better words (if you can think of any, let me know, please). Both the bass and guitar were chopped and after many different tries, I found patterns that fit together. The cymbal at the end actually came before I decided I wanted one at the beginning. The last thing I added were the wind chime, which added to the mystery of it all. Hope you like it!

Bass Loop

On this loop, I had a lot of trouble coming up with the right bass pattern. At first, it was really simple, and I added the partial scale in the C part to make it more interesting. The drum loop I used for the fills was chosen kind of randomly at the last minute, so please tell me if you think it works well. The bass "pulsing" on one note took a while to figure out that I had to have two separate patterns-one all "pulses" and the other half "pulses" and half different notes. I liked the variety of different base sounds on FL Studio and each part (A, B, and C) has a different bass in it. I wanted simple drum loops, and just used the FPC ones for them. Overall, I am please with how this turned out, considering how much of a mess it was in the beginning.

Drum Loop 1B

Since this was my first loop, I really over did it at first with sounds. The beginning was actually made on my second time. To start off this loop, I listened to some of the pre-made loops and decided that I liked the sound of the bongo-like drums. The closest I could come were the toms, and these are used throughout it. The fill in the middle has a soft woodblock sound which I like. I wanted to contrast the “A” part and made the "B" part lighter and almost bell-like with a simple quarter note pattern. The fill after this was fun to make with the main structure made of claps. I’m not sure how many people end on a fill, but if the loop looped, the “A” part is too long to handle.
