Video

Here is the video to go with the post from below and a couple of pointers.
  • turn the sound on the video off
  • wait for both the video and the clip to load before playing
Hope you enjoy it!

Final Video Project

This video was actually the hardest project this year-fitting because it was the final. Overall, I think it took me 4 or 5 hours. Thank you to Dari, Heidi, and Russell for the voices. I started off by watching the video. Then I made a couple patterns that got thrown away in the end. I found a drum loop and the trumpet sound in the beginning. Next I decided to record a bunch of friends. After I figured out how to put them in the project, I added all of the other parts. In my opinion something is missing, but Mr. Rabuse said it was all good. What do you think?

Chord Progression

For this project it was the sound that got me going. It reminds me of The Little Mermaid. I tried out many sounds for it. The actual chords were a lot easier to figure out because I just fooled around with the keyboard. I really liked this project.

Sytrus

I created two sounds for this project. One is the underlying bass-ish one and the other is the melody on top. The drums in this were just a pre-generated FPC track. For the melody all I did was fool around on the black keys at the higher end of the keyboard while recording. Then I made a few simple changes and was all set. I am pleased with the project although this took forever and I was annoyed about that.

Automation

For this project, I based it on the song Axel F. I took the song put the note into FL Studios and played with it. There is a presence envelope on the DIST dire straits (1st guitar) and panning. Also, I put panning on the Boo Bass. The other two things I automated were the master volume in the beginning and the FPC volume at the end. This project was very fun because I started with a fun idea.

FX Loop

AN: Turn the volume up to hear it (it saved very quietly)...and sorry for the "popping" noise at the beginning, I'm not sure how it got there. Tell me if I need to repost it because of volume issues.

This project was the hardest so far to do for me because I couldn't get any ideas of my own. I borrowed two lines from Footloose (the bass and guitar) and it helped a lot. (Warning: If you are going to borrow a line, be prepared to listen to it over and over and over again. I am now sick of the song.) On the drums I have reverb, which fit very well, as did the chorus on the bass. The delay (which is on 'mono echoes', by the way) seemed to go best on the tambourine because if it was on anything else, it took over. The last effect I have is flanger on all of the guitar parts. It took me two classes to find an ending and in my opinion, the one I have now is slightly cheesy, if you will. Overall, I am not 100% happy with it, but I am satisfied.
